Education

Dr. Novalija graduated from Medical School at the Medizinische Universit盲t zu L眉beck, Germany in 1997, where she received her PhD for her thesis 鈥淭he endocrine stress response in CABG patients鈥 in 1998. From 1998 to 2000 she was a cardiology resident at the Georg August Universit盲t in G枚ttingen, Germany. Continuing her training in the US she completed her Internship in Medicine and Residency in Anesthesia at St. Luke鈥檚 Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University in New York, NY in 2000-2004. Dr. Novalija then went on to specialize in cardiac anesthesia and completed her fellowship at Brigham and Women鈥檚 Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA in 2005. Dr. Novalija joined the 老澳门六合彩图库 as Assistant Professor in 2005.

Research Interests

Dr. Novalija’s research focuses on anesthetic preconditioning of the endothelium in humans. She received a mentored FAER award to study the effect and mechanism of volatile anesthetic conditioning on the endothelium in vivo in 2008. She also is a scholar in the Clinical Research Scholars Program (K30 award) at the 老澳门六合彩图库, Cohort 2007-2009.
