• To prepare APPs with the highest quality patient care and leadership skills who practice as professional members of a pediatric collaborative team

Vision

• Pioneer a centralized approach to:
  • Systems based thinking, clinical acumen, and enhanced professional competencies
  • Strengthen critical thinking skills along with confidence during transition to practice
  • Expose inter-professional roles, team-based care, and variety of patient populations
  • Recruit and retain highly talented and motivated APPs

• APPs with interest in advancing their clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat pediatric patients in a variety of clinical settings.
• APPs interested in transitioning to practice in a mentored environment to build a professional network and clarify through experience a best fit for clinical practice and starting their career.

Fellowship experiences include:

• Professional & leadership skills development
• Academic training through scholarly project
• Clinical experiences tailored to meet your training needs & professional goals:
  • Combined pediatric medical & surgical subspecialty experience
  • Acute/critical care inpatient experiences

• 12 Month program
• Start date: September 2024
• Three (3) APPs accepted for each cohort
• Option to focus training in specialty care or acute/critical care

Key Fellowship Experiences

• General pediatric experiences may include medical & pediatric surgical inpatient and ambulatory subspecialties
• Core curriculum and rotations with elective rotation opportunities
  • "Ala carte" elective options so the experience can be tailored to fellow's interest areas
• Professional & leadership skill development paired with APP professional mentor
• Scholarly experience with project completion at the end of fellowship

Core Educational Structure

Eligibility Requirements

NP

• Completion of an accredited nurse practitioner master’s or doctoral program prior to the start of the fellowship
• National board certification preference for pediatric or family nurse practitioner
• Eligible for licensure as a NP in Wisconsin
• Eligible for a DEA license
• Acceptable criminal background check

PA

• Completion of an accredited physician assistant’s master’s program prior to the start of the fellowship
• National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certified
• Eligible for licensure as a PA in Wisconsin
• Eligible for a DEA license
• Acceptable criminal background check

Application Details

Application Deadline: March 31, 2024 for anticipated September 2024 start date

Interviews

• Candidates who have completed their entire application will be reviewed by the fellowship selections committee
• Top candidates will be identified for an HR interview
• In person interviews with the fellowship team and tour of the facility is offered after HR interview for select candidates

  • Education Transcripts from the masters/doctorate nurse practitioner or physician assistant program
  • Three letters of recommendation
    • Reference letters should address clinical experience, clinical knowledge & critical thinking, professionalism, and learning ability.
    • At least 1 academic and 1 clinical reference is required
  • One-page statement of interest in postgraduate fellowship training within pediatrics
