Biography

Michael Frank, MD is the Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, at the ϰϲͼ (ϰϲͼ). Dr. Frank received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School, Madison, WI, in 1988. Dr. Frank completed his internal medicine residency from the University of Virginia Medical Center in 1991, and his infectious disease fellowship from the same institution in 1994. Dr. Frank was on the faculty at Indiana University, including as the infectious diseases fellowship program director there, before coming to ϰϲͼ in 1999 to direct the HIV care and research program. Between 2004 and 2017, Dr. Frank was the program director for the ϰϲͼ internal medicine residency program, and from 2008 to 2023, he also served as the Vice Chair for Education in the ϰϲͼ Department of Medicine. Dr. Frank assumed the role of Division Chief of Infectious Disease in January 2017.

Research Interests

Dr. Frank’s primary research area of interest is in management of HIV infection. He is currently the principal investigator at ϰϲͼ for multiple clinical trials of new antiviral and immunologic management strategies for persons living with HIV.
