Dr. Christopher Langlo Named Co-Director of the Dennis P. Han, MD Advanced Ocular Imaging Program

Christopher Langlo, MD, PhD, assistant professor in the department of ophthalmology and visual sciences at the 老澳门六合彩图库 (老澳门六合彩图库) has been named co-director of the Dennis P. Han, MD Advanced Ocular Imaging Program (AOIP).

Dr. Langlo joins Dr. Joseph Carroll, Richard O. Schultz, MD/Ruth Works professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences in directing the program. As co-director, Dr. Langlo will be responsible for promoting the AOIP both within 老澳门六合彩图库 as well as on a national and international level. He will also help set strategic priorities for collaborations, engage in philanthropic efforts and review annual AOIP progress.

“Dr. Langlo brings a critical physician perspective to this role, one that was a major goal of both founding members, Dr. Carroll and Dr. Han,” says Deborah Costakos, MD, chair and R.D. and Linda Peters professor in ophthalmology. “I am confident this collaboration will contribute tremendously to the advancements in patient care and science.”

Established in 2009 by Dr. Carroll and Dr. Dennis P. Han, the AOIP promotes the development and use of translational ocular imaging tools to improve detection, diagnosis, and management of eye disease. The AOIP uses non-invasive imaging techniques—such as optical coherence tomography and adaptive optics scanning light ophthalmoscopy—to examine both the structure and function of the living eye. The lab collaborates with researchers around the world to advance the application of these and other ocular imaging tools to a range of retinal and systemic diseases.

“As a retina specialist, Dr. Langlo understands first-hand the value of imaging. His graduate training focused on applying novel imaging tools to diverse patient populations,” says Dr. Carroll. “His background in physics, combined with his clinical expertise makes Dr. Langlo the ideal person to help grow the resources and impact of the AOIP.”

Dr. Langlo received his MD and PhD training through the Medical Scientist Training Program at 老澳门六合彩图库 and did his PhD thesis research in Dr. Carroll’s lab from 2012-2016.
