ϰϲͼ Pathology & Laboratory Medicine - Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology
Musculoskeletal pathology, under the direction of Dr. Saul Suster, is involved in the evaluation of diseases that affect bones and soft tissues. The service supports the musculoskeletal oncology program on campus, one of the premier clinical oncology services housed at Froedtert Hospital/ϰϲͼ. The unit is supported by state-of-the-art immunohistochemical and molecular testing.
The Bone and Soft Tissue pathology service at the ϰϲͼ specializes in tumorous and non-tumorous diseases of the musculoskeletal system including non-epithelial extraskeletal tissues, offering comprehensive diagnostic evaluation for tissue biopsies and complex surgical resections. Over 2500 in-house cases are seen and diagnosed annually, reviewing cases ranging from benign to neoplastic conditions.
We also provide second opinions for patients as part of our consult service and receive cases from regional community practices. Our involvement extends to our weekly Multidisciplinary Musculoskeletal Oncology tumor board conference and medical conferences for the best possible care for our patients. Our service also presents teaching conferences and didactic lectures to pathology residents, medical students, and observers on a regular basis.
