Mission

The mission of the Division of Surgical Oncology is to promote excellence in patient care, scientific research, and education. We strive to lead the region and nation as role models in these disciplines and are committed to training the next generation of surgical leaders. Our actions embody our core values of compassion, integrity, respect, and excellence.

At the 老澳门六合彩图库, the only academic medical center in Eastern Wisconsin, a team of nationally and internationally recognized surgeons work collaboratively to provide state of art personalized care. Surgeons in the Division of Surgical Oncology are part of multidisciplinary organ based programs at the comprehensive Froedtert & the 老澳门六合彩图库 Cancer Center. Our surgeons are among the highest-volume surgeons in both the state of Wisconsin and the country. The level of care provided by the programs has lead patients to travel great distances to Froedtert & 老澳门六合彩图库.

In addition to dedicated clinical excellence, the physicians of the Division of Surgical Oncology participate in national and international clinical trials that offer patients novel, cutting-edge therapies. Some of the clinical trials offered are only available at our Cancer Center. Researchers in the division have also been recognized with funding from the National Institute of Health for their novel approaches to cancer care. The division is dedicated to basic science research and maintains initiatives utilizing patient鈥檚 own tissues in the laboratory. This work holds the potential to identify the most meaningful treatments available.

Patients seen by division members are presented in multidisciplinary forums attended by medical oncology, radiation oncology, gastroenterology, radiology, pathology and others. These discussions allow management to focus on the entire plan rather than only a surgical procedure and provide patients with the resource of hospital wide input. Clearly, our comprehensive approach is providing recommendations in an insightful and progressive manner.

The Division鈥檚 commitment to lead the nation in the education of physicians is evident through its rich history of general surgery training and the recent addition of fellowship programs. Advanced training in the areas of endocrine surgery and liver/pancreas surgery are two of the most coveted fellowship positions in the country and provide a format to educate and equip the next generation.

Our commitment is treat our patients as we would our family and press on with an indefatigable spirit in the fight against cancer.
