Mission Statement

Advance the understanding of the mechanisms driving thrombo-inflammation and development of post-surgical and post-injury blood clots.

Assistant Professor of Surgery and Radiology
Adjunct Associate Investigator, Versiti Blood Research Institute

Research Summary

The goal of Dr. Dyer鈥檚 laboratory is to understand the mechanisms that drive the interplay between the coagulation system and inflammatory system and how those interactions contribute to the development of pathophysiologic blood clots. Animal models of deep venous thrombosis, polytraumatic injury, and traumatic brain injury in mice and swine and novel RNA therapies (siRNA and mRNA) are harnessed as a biological tool to gain a greater understanding of the mechanisms regulating thrombo-inflammation. These novel RNA therapies serve not only as biological tools but are then evaluated for efficacy in preventing unwanted thrombosis.
