Biography
Hometown:
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Personal interests:
Heels dance and African choreography, developing an STEM-based after-school program
Why HESP?:
Personal well-being is pivotal to success as a student and career fulfillment as a physician. I appreciate that HESP has considered the demand of pursuing a career in medicine and has created a program that intentionally supports the psychosocial needs of students. I look forward to discovering new mentors in HESP that will foster a personalized career in medicine and integrate health equity training into my work.
Why are you interested in health equity?:
Involvement in health disparities work before medical school developed my desire to educate and provide compassionate care to vulnerable populations and to individuals from backgrounds that have been historically marginalized in medicine. Discovering the social determinants of health and personal experience of living life in environments that perpetuate disparities has reinforced the focus of my service in pouring back into the underserved.
What do you like about Milwaukee?:
Reflecting on our beautiful lakefront brings me clarity and I always look forward to the renewed energy that the cultural and artistic festivals bring every summer. There is artistry, talent and brilliance here and I look forward to finding new adventures with a new community.
