Drs. Timothy Klatt, Nancy Jacobson and Michael Voss Assume New Froedtert Thedacare Health, Inc. South Region Quality Leadership Roles
Timothy (Tim) Klatt, MD, has assumed the role of Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc. South Region associate chief quality and safety officer for Patient Safety; Nancy Jacobson, MD, has assumed the role of inaugural medical director for the South Region Sepsis Management Program; and Michael (Mickey) Voss, MD, has assumed the role of Froedtert & ϰϲͼ enterprise medical director – Glucose Management.
Dr. Klatt, in his enhanced role as a dyad partner with Anne Bobb, South Region vice president of Patient Safety, will be responsible for developing and enhancing the culture and practices necessary to achieve our goal of zero preventable harm. His responsibilities will include enhancing and standardizing peer review practices throughout the South Region and providing rigorous clinical oversight of the safety event review, patient complaints and grievances and disclosure processes.
Dr. Klatt’s enhanced responsibilities reflect his continued excellence in advancing the quality and safety of care and for making it continually easier for the right patient to receive the right care at the right time. He has held several transformational roles with the Froedtert & ϰϲͼ health network, including serving as the test case for ϰϲͼ patient safety and quality officers (PSQO) and then the inaugural PSQO for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has also served as Chief PSQO for Medical College Physicians; Froedtert Hospital Birth Center medical director; senior medical director for Patient Safety at Froedtert Hospital; and, most recently, associate chief medical officer, Patient Safety at Froedtert Hospital. In 2020, in recognition of his enormous contributions, he was awarded the most prestigious honor bestowed on a clinician by the Froedtert Hospital Board – the Smallwood Award for Clinical Excellence.
Dr. Klatt joins Jon Gould, MD, MBA who is continuing as associate chief quality and safety officer for Procedural Value and Julie Kolinski, MD, inaugural associate chief quality and safety officer, who will continue her role while additionally taking on leadership of our Enterprise Stewardship Collaborative. Dr. Klatt will continue his clinical practice as obstetrics and gynecology surgeon at Froedtert Hospital.
Dr. Jacobson’s inaugural role recognizes that sepsis is a common and consequential condition in our community that requires a coordinated, evidence-based, and multidisciplinary approach to ensure the best outcomes for our patients. Dr. Jacobson will partner with Nursing and Advanced Practice co-leads in leading a multidisciplinary team to develop and enhance the culture and norms surrounding sepsis management, standardized practice and processes, and policies related to sepsis management across the health system.
Dr. Jacobson has been a leader in ϰϲͼ’s Department of Emergency Medicine as the system director of quality, safety and experience, as the patient safety and quality officer and as one of the medical directors for the Froedtert Hospital Emergency Department. She has championed the management of sepsis in the emergency department resulting in standardized tools to recognize and promptly treat sepsis. Dr. Jacobson has been recognized for excellence in clinical practice, mentorship and leadership through her receipt of the Department of Emergency Medicine Award for Clinical Excellence, the Department of Emergency Medicine Chair’s Excellence in Leadership Award and the Department of Emergency Medicine Outstanding Mentor Award.
Dr. Voss, in his leadership role, will be instrumental in developing and enhancing the culture and norms surrounding glucose management across our health system. This will involve standardizing practices and policies to ensure the highest standards of care. He will partner closely with Allison Wier, diabetes clinical nurse specialist, and our Department of Pharmacy, in accomplishing his role.
Dr. Voss earned his medical degree from ϰϲͼ, completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Indiana in Indianapolis, and returned to Wisconsin for his endocrinology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital and Clinics. Since joining ϰϲͼ in July 2022, Dr. Voss has focused his clinical and research efforts on type 1 diabetes. He will continue his endocrinology practice at Froedtert Hospital Specialty Clinics and Mequon Health Center.
